[Bananagrams and Angry Birds]

Mar 16, 2011

It’s strange how having company takes so much out of you. I love having people here to visit and getting to see family and doing touristy things I don’t often do, but when they leave and the dust settles from a whirlwind visit I’m amazed at how pooped out I am! I don’t know if it’s a little sadness that they’re gone mixed with all the tiredness, but it just makes me want to veg out and do nothing. So this past weekend Patrick and I decided to just be lazy. We got caught up on all the episodes our DVR was filled up with, watched some movies, made popcorn, and tried to cope with the hole that giving up pop for lent left in us by playing a makeshift brand of “Bananagrams” using our Scrabble tiles. We kept an ongoing tally – I won the first game but after that it was pretty neck and neck and Patrick ended up ahead by 9. I’m getting better so I’ll get him back…

In addition to playing Bananagrams I also was introduced to the crazy world of “Angry Birds.” Patrick had been playing on his iPod off and on for days and I just had to find out what the lure of the Angry Birds phenomenon was all about and why he’d been ignoring me so much lately. haha So while trying to turn my brain off and sleep one night I decided that I would play and while hurtling little birds at alien pigs I was instantly was reminded of my fabulous little canaries – my must-have purchase from CB2. I am in the process of changing our color scheme of our bedroom to gray and yellow and when I saw them I knew I HAD to have them. I made pillows, made new lamp shades for some fun lamps I bought on clearance at Hobby Lobby awhile back, and have been compiling a random mish-mosh of pictures, wall art, shelves, and pops of color (aka my little birdies) for what will become the wall decor for above the bed. I think it will be cool once it’s all done I just need to find the time to hang the stuff. Sigh…Anywho, thought I’d share some of my mish-mosh. Enjoy!!

PS Angry Birds IS just as addicting and fun as they say it is. Just sayin’…
