Here’s to you Mr. Wolohan… {Anniversary}

May 6, 2011

Well folks, we made it a year! I shouldn’t say “made it” like it was a struggle – because it wasn’t – quite the opposite actually, but I can’t believe it has really already been a year: A wonderful, WONDERFUL year. We’ve had our disagreements, like whether shoes really need to be taken off in the middle of the hallway, livingroom, bathroom, or whether every room in the house needs to have at least one stack of books a foot high in it. Turns out, every room really DOES. hah Its the little silly things that you have to adjust to when you live with someone for the first time. But I can’t complain…it was nice just being able to live in the same STATE as him for the first time in 7 years.

May 1st marks not only our 1 year anniversary of our marriage (what a fantastic day might I add…), but also the 9th anniversary from the day he asked me to be his girlfriend. ::sigh and pause for a moment of nostalgia:: Have I told you how much I love this kid? It was a long 8 years to get to that altar, but all the long distance, skype dates, 2 am phone calls, and thousands of miles of travel time spent to get to see each other for 2 days at a time was so totally worth it and I would do it all again if it meant I would be living my life married to him.

Anywho, enough of the mushy stuff and onto the yummy stuff. We decided to keep it low key for our anniversary celebration (we’re saving for our “Twenty-twelve European Vacation” aka going to Ireland to watch an ND football game) so we spent our Sunday going to church, breakfast at the Pancake House, watching the Red Wings (lose…boo), and then went to an AMAZING dinner at Joe’s Seafood, Steakhouse, and Stone Crabs downtown. I’m fairly certain my food was cold by the time I was done eating it since I spent like 5 minutes after each bite savoring and gushing about how fantastic it was!! Grilled MahiMahi with chimichurri and jicama slaw on the side. If you can, go there and try that. OMG divine. Anywho, they sent us home with a couple free desserts just in case our year old wedding cake was nasty and dry. Which brings me to the above photos…I’ve heard horror stories about how nasty and dry the year old frozen cake topper is, so I was fully prepared for disappointment…however, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was ridiculously moist and delicious! And yes, in case you’re wondering – the colored spotches are not some sort of mold – our wedding cake was FUNFETTI. Just sayin’ betcha wish you were clever enough to have had funfetti wedding cake. Funfetti: not JUST for birthdays. But yea…here’s to you Patrick ::raises imaginary glass:: and to many, many, many more years of wedded bliss. Thank you for making me the happiest lady alive.
