A ‘Bokeh’ of Flowers {Random}

Jun 14, 2011

As I stated in my previous post, I had a wonderful weekend getting to enjoy the company of my husband’s family at their cottage in Michigan. His grandparents just finished a GORGEOUS renovation on their cottage – expanding to accommodate their ever expanding family (3 new great-grandchildren in the past month!). His grandma, grandpa, and uncle (who did a lot of the work) gave us the grand tour of the new space and amenities. Now, I love HGTV so actually getting to see a transformation and renovation in person was so much fun! I love seeing all the little details that many people don’t think about, and hearing why certain decisions were made versus another. The design was so well thought out and the craftsmanship was flawless. It is definitely a place that they will enjoy for a lonnnng time!

While Patrick helped his uncle and cousin (from the previous post) finish up the last finishing touches on deck/patio, his Grandma and Grandpa walked me around to the landscaping, proudly showing the beautiful and unique flowers they had planted in the beds. They always have the most gorgeous blends and cascading assortment of flowers so I thought I’d take the opportunity to photograph some of them. Flowers are not my usual subjects but they were kind, quiet, and stayed in one place for the session. 😉 Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Hammis for a fun afternoon baking, talking, and for that delicious root beer float! I haven’t had one in years! Enjoy!

    Awesome! I especially like the 1st and 6th ones. I think the 6th one should titled “The Flower of Sauron”
